# How much can I charge for electronic notarization?

$25 per electronic notarial act — set by regulation (§182.11(g)), inclusive of all your costs — versus the $2 maximum for traditional acts. That contrast is one of the exam’s favorite pairs, along with who sets it (the Secretary of State, by regulation, not the Legislature by statute). The fee isn’t the only difference that travels with electronic work: you must keep the audio-video recording of every session for at least 10 years, on top of the journal every notary keeps under §182.9.
