# The video has no sound

Check the player’s own volume control first. It sits in the corner of the video window and remembers its last setting, so a video that was quieted yesterday stays quiet today.

If the player is up, check the device. Phones have a silent switch and a media volume that are separate from the ringer; computers have a system mixer where your browser can be muted individually. On Windows, right-click the speaker icon and open the volume mixer to see whether your browser is muted. On a Mac, check Sound in System Settings.

Still nothing? Switch browsers for one lesson. If the sound works there, your original browser needs an update or a settings reset. Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox all play the course correctly in their current versions.
